The BlackGirl Food Critic (BGFC) brand, owned and hosted by Cheryl Parks Ajamu of The Ajamu Group, LLC, features reviews of Black owned restaurants, food trucks, packaged beverages and food from a consumer’s point of view. The food critic reviews are also posted on the Instagram page of blackgirlfoodcritic. Cheryl Parks Ajamu launched the BlackGirl Food Critic brand in July 2021; one month later, BlackGirl Food Critic partnered with Detroit Black Restaurant Week to post food reviews of participating restaurants on the social media platforms of BlackGirl Food Critic and The Ajamu Group, LLC.
Cheryl Parks Ajamu began her career in automotive advertising in 1999 as the Detroit Sales Manager for Black Entertainment Television. Cheryl’s expertise in sponsorship acquisition, multicultural advertising, marketing, branding, social media content creation/strategies and the development and implementation of Corporate branded events, has made her a sought-after expert in the advertising, marketing and branding industries. Cheryl is the creator/Executive Producer of the Multicultural Media Luncheon Auto Industry awards (during Detroit Auto Show) and the owner of the HBCU sporting event, the Detroit Football Classic Weekend. She is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, a graduate of the University of Memphis, recipient of the 2019 Top Tigers Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Memphis, and a Board Member of Orchards Children’s Services of Michigan.
